Who Are We

Established in 2009, Inside the Living Room (ILR) creates meaningful internships.

ILR allows UC Berkeley students to understand immigrant refugee rights, legal processes/frameworks, and immigrant advocacy through educational programs for both immigrants and the public.

Interns have the opportunity to support the East Bay Sanctuary Covenant Staff in different tasks such as Asylum, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Unaccompanied Minors (UAC), U-Visas, Residency, and Community Development and Education (CDE).

Interns with an interest in teaching  can facilitate English as Second Language (ESL) and citizenship exam classes.

By providing both volunteers and coordination, Inside the Living Room interns offer the sort of service commitment that EBSC is in dire need of.

The program and directors will also foster accountability, responsibility, cooperation, and personal and professional growth for interns and those served.
